This is a moderate intensity class to provide you a foundation in the fundamental fighting skills with a handgun. The intent of the course is to teach the student individual skills for the use of a pistol in close range, high speed, defensive scenarios. The individual will learn robust and reliable methods for presentation and manipulation to maximize their effectiveness with the pistol. This course will be primarily designed around the semi-auto pistol, but other systems will be covered and are suitable for use. What to bring:
- Eye and Ear protection (electronic ear pro is highly recommended)
- Brimmed hat or ball cap
- Pen / pencil & notepad (something you can keep with you all day for notes)
- One serviceable pistol (.380 or larger caliber)
- One good quality strong side holster (holster must allow 1 hand re-holstering, no cross draw or shoulder rigs)
- 4 serviceable magazines minimum, 6 speed loaders or moon clips for the wheel gunners
Magazine carrier/s to carry at least two magazines on body (pockets don’t count here)
- Covering garment for presentations from concealment (vest, polo shirt, whatever you normally use to conceal your firearm in public)
- 500 rounds of pistol ammunition
- One open mind and a dedicated spirit willing to learn new tactics, techniques, and principles (TTP)
Optional equipment:
- Gloves (mechanics or specialty i.e. flight gloves, hatch, Blackhawk, etc.)
- Neck cover (keeps brass out of the shirt)
- Knee / Elbow pads (we will be kneeling and going prone, these are helpful)
- Dump pouch (to keep expended magazines off the deck)
